Hungarian Scout Association (MCSSZ)

The Hungarian Scout Association (MCSSZ) is the most significant scouting organization in Hungary. It was found in 1912, and it was re-formed in 1989 after its banning in 1948.

The MCSSZ is the exclusive member organization of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in Hungary. There were 7160 scouts in the teams of MCSSZ at the end of 2009; currently we can talk about approximately 10000 scouts. There are almost 300 scout teams troughout the country. The MCSSZ is the largest youth organization in Hungary, however it organizes programs not only for the scouts, but for underprivileged youth and for interested enthusiasts as well. The alliance put great emphasis on building international relationships, as it operates in one of the jamboree organizing nations.

The Hungarian applicants were firstly touched by the base idea of the project, namely by the worthy celebration of the fall of the Berlin Wall. As those times the histories of our nations had a close connection, we find it important to be present on this anniversary. On the other hand, the mission of the project is rather unique, which is noteworthy in its own right. It would be a shame to miss such a journey, as numerous friendships can born during the tour, and there is the chance to acquire new knowledge about the cultures of other nations as well. Our mission is to show the Hungarian culture and traditions to the enthusiasts as well, this way making the yourney more colourful.
